If you are in 2019 (this year) and you are reading this because you have encountered the “This site is experiencing technical difficulties” error on you WordPress website. You’ve come to the right place.

After upgrading to WordPress version 5.2 we’ve noticed our websites getting this error: This site is experiencing technical difficulties.

We’ve read tons of internet materials on how they solved the problem on this error. We’ve suggestions to disable all themes and plug ins – which is a basic WP troubleshooting routine. And yes, we did that, but it didn’t work for us.

Others DIY tutorials suggested to roll back the WP version from 5.2 to WP version 5.1. Ah, sounds like a good idea. And if you do that you will find that this trick works. Downside of this however is you’ll miss of course the security and feature fixes that they implemented in WP 5.2.

To think of it, you can’ stay in WordPress 5.1 forever. For your website to be safe and functioning properly you need to keep the website core updated.

So what really caused this “This site is experiencing technical difficulties” problem in you website?

In the time of release of 5.2 in May a lot of websites had gone down due to incompatibility of PHP version because a lot are still running PHP 5.6 version or lower.
